SRO, Social Worker, Community Liaison position survey

Hello Oredocker Community-

Due to the successful referendum we have a line item in our budget for an School Resource Officer (SRO) Position. This year we do not have that position filled. If you would like to give feedback please complete this short survey. We are exploring several options. We have the funds to ask Ashland Police Department for a full-time SRO. We could inquire about a part-time SRO. We can look to hire another social worker. We currently have two to serve our students, district wide. We could look for another community liaison who can work with students and families who are struggling, especially with attendance barriers. Please give your feedback. Superintendent, Rob Prater, will be having a community meeting to discuss this topic. You are always welcome to email Rob at rprater@sdak12.net with any input.

The purpose and job description for each position would be different. Please attend a meeting- June 4th at 9:00 AM at the Black Cat or June 11th at 6:00 PM at the District office. If you cannot attend a meeting, reach out to Superintendent Prater for detailed information on each position.

Full time School Resource Officer- focusing on school presence, crime discouragement, and positive interactions between law enforcement and students.

Part time School Resource Officer- similar to above but with more focus on special event like football games and periodic building security.

Social Worker- focus on interactions with students and families, especially around attendance, mental health, and building on assets.

Community Liaison- Similar to social worker but with more focus on home visits and relationship building.
