Friday, September 26: Professional Day – French Institute 


As part of the 2nd edition of the Orizont Sonor Festival of Radio and Sound Creation, from September 25 to 28, the French Institute of Romania is organizing a day of exchange for audio professionals and students from Europe and the Black Sea, providing a space for exchange and encounter.

The aim is to promote the sharing of experiences in order to support an innovative audio ecosystem and to reflect on the future of the sector, with in particular a meeting to discuss sound creation in Europe and its dissemination in partnership with the Goethe-Institute, as well as a round table dedicated to innovation. 

This professional day, upon registration (free of charge), is intended for professionals in radio and sound creation, invited guests of the festival, as well as students and young professionals interested in podcasting and sound creation. The debates will be broadcast live and online. (Language: The whole event will be in English)

Dans le cadre de la 2ème édition du Festival Orizont sonor de la radio et de la création sonore du 25 au 28 septembre, l’Institut Français de Roumanie organise une journée d’échange aux professionnels et étudiants de l’audio de l’Europe et de la mer Noire un espace d’échange et de rencontre.

Il s’agit de favoriser le partage d’expériences pour soutenir un écosystème audio innovant et réfléchir à l’avenir du secteur avec notamment une rencontre pour évoquer la création sonore en Europe et sa diffusion en partenariat avec le Goethe Institut ainsi qu’une table ronde dédiée à l’innovation.

Cette journée professionnelle sur inscription (gratuite) s’adresse aux professionnels de la radio et de la création sonore, invités du festival, aux étudiants et jeunes professionnels s’intéressant au podcast et à la création sonore. Les débats seront diffusés en live et online. (Langue : Toute la journée sera en anglais)

I/ 10:00 am - 11:00 am: Voices of the Black Sea 

Two artists from different countries discuss sound and radio creation. Their dialogue explores the echoes between their personal stories of their countries, and some others from other Black Sea nations. Through this discussion, the geopolitical tensions that run through the region are revealed, as well as the resonances that bring artists together.

WITH: Mădălina Ciocanu alias DJ BORȘ (Moldova - artist and researcher, specialist in sound art and electronic music. Director of the Trade of Knowledge platform), Anamaria Pravicencu (Romania - sound artist and founder of the Semi Silent platform).

II/ 11:00 am - 12:30 am: What Distribution for European Radio Creation?  (in partnership with the Goethe Institute and the Austrian Cultural Forum) 

This round table explores the broadcasting and distribution channels for radio creation in Europe. How can we identify and build audience loyalty in a sector that remains largely unknown to the public? What role should festivals, platforms and radio play? Producers and broadcasters will discuss the challenges, obstacles and opportunities at European and international levels.

WITH: Nathalie Singer (Germany – Professor of experimental radio at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, radio artist, producer, and founder of Real.Sense.Lab), Anne-Claire Laîné (France – Director of the Longueur d'ondes festival), Oana Cristea Grigorescu (Romania - Editor at the National Radio Theatre - Radio Romania). Moderated by Andrei Popov (Deputy Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Bucharest.)

III/ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm: What role for radio stations in Eastern Europe? 

Exploring the role of radio stations in Eastern Europe and around the Black Sea, between independence from political pressure, defending cultural diversity, and combating fake news.

WITH: Diana Kostova (Bulgaria – Editor-in-Chief of Digital Programs, Bulgarian National Radio) and Ovidiu Nahoi (Romania - Editor-in-Chief RFI Romania). Moderated by Matei Martin (Romania – Editor-in-Chief Observator Cultural, journalist at Radio România Cultural)

Creators and digital experts discuss new opportunities for innovation, reaching new audiences, and rethinking narrative forms in the digital age.

WITH: Steven Jambot (France – Producer of “L'atelier des médias” and editorial coordinator of podcasts at RFI), Andreea Coscai (Romania – Independent podcast producer and founder of the Eurowaves newsletter dedicated to podcasts) and Diana Kostova (Bulgaria – Editor-in-chief of digital programs at Bulgarian National Radio). Moderator: Christophe Deleu (France - Professor of Information and Communication Sciences at the University Center for Journalism Education in Strasbourg and author of documentaries and audio drama)

V/ 4:15 pm - 5:15 pm: Masterclass by Steven Jambot and Simon Decreuze : 10 keys to convince a podcast producer (In partnership with Eurowaves and Radio France International)

This Masterclass aims to provide podcast creators and audio professionals with the keys to convincing a producer. Steven Jambot and Simon Decreuze will share their experience at RFI, discussing writing, editorial choices, and methods for selecting and supporting podcasts at the intersection of creativity, economics, and industry.

Networking event organized by Andreea Coscai, aimed at podcast creators, radio professionals, and young journalists.

This networking event aims to strengthen ties between podcast professionals in Romania and beyond. Its goal is to lay the groundwork for a nascent industry, while promoting greater awareness of the podcast network and enhanced cooperation between its various players.
