May 2019 Natural Mystery
The snow is gone here in Minnesota, and the rivers, creeks and streams are swollen with melt water and rainfall. Sometimes when there is enough water around, we mere mortals can trail animals across tarmac. This photo comes from a residential, rural road outside of Bemidji, Minnesota. The road runs through some marshland, and many of the ditches were waterlogged. The question is "What happened here?"

An ideal answer will identify any animals involved to species, describe any behavior that can be inferred from photo, explain how you arrived at your answer, and explain how you eliminated other possible explanations. Sharing your logic and reasoning will help others benefit from your process.
