We all have preferences or biases that we carry with us. Sometimes they are shaped by our past experiences and sometimes they are shaped by the attitudes we grew up with. We can be aware of these biases, other times we don't even realize they are there. Sometimes these biases only effect who we chose to sit with at lunch, sometimes they impact others in a much broader way that can be hard to measure.
The purpose of this survey is to compare the general attitudes and knowledge of young adults toward disability and persons with disability, and to assess the possible influence of historic events around disability rights and policies related to populations with disability in two countries (Japan and Canada). The findings from the analysis will be published in an academic journal and shared on the primary Canadian researcher's (Dr. Terashima’s) lab website (http://www.peachresearch.ca).
The survey is anonymous, and no identifying information will be collected other than gender, disability status, and what program you are in. Students in Architecture and Planning, please note that your participation (or non-participation) will not affect your grades in any way.
You can close this web page to the survey at anytime and we will not receive any responses from you.
