Apply for the Newark Teacher Project (NTP)
NTP is a small cohort of students placed together for their clinical year with a special focus on social justice and urban education.  NTP students are placed in classrooms in Newark with talented cooperating teachers.  Dr. Picower and Dr. Maloney from the TLRN Department serve as the mentors for the student teachers and run special sections of seminar 1 and 2 with just the NTP student teachers.  The seminars support all areas of teacher development with a special focus on social and racial justice.  All of the requirements and assignments are the same, but the small cohort family provides additional support and community and the cohort also has access to many special events including high quality antiracism professional development.  Selected participants would begin their clinical 1 in the fall in their Newark or Orange classroom and student teach there in the spring.
