Master Urban Gardener 2017 Application
Master Urban Gardener (MUG) is an intensive, skill-building training for Massachusetts gardeners. Whether you’re just getting started or have been gardening for decades, MUG covers everything you need know to thrive in a Massachusetts community garden--from vegetable gardening and composting to community organizing. Topics include soil science, botany for gardeners, organic pest and disease management, native edibles, garden planning, and more. The format is primarily lecture-based, with some group and hands-on activities included.

Master Urban Gardener is open to Massachusetts community and residential gardeners who demonstrate a commitment to sharing skills with others. MUG consists of 35 hours of classroom instruction, followed by at least 10 hours of volunteer service. The sessions are on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a lunch break, and run from January 22 to March 12, excluding February 12. Classes take place at the KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market, 100 Hanover Street, Boston.

Applications are due by November 30. Early applications are encouraged. The course fee is on an income-based sliding scale, ranging from $0 - $200. If you are a beginner and don't have answers for some of these questions, that's fine.
