Data Analysis, Current State
Please feel free to make your answers and lengthy and thorough as you'd like, including any tangential comments that might feel irrelevant at first glance. Survey intended to assess the current situation, difficulties and opinions of people working with big data on a regular basis. This is being performed to obtain an overview of the state of the industry and, because of this, no names or personal information will be used for our results.

Name *
Initials or a username will do.
Do you currently store large amounts of data for decision making? *
How big would you estimate the database you source your data from to be? *
This can be a number in bytes, number of entries, tables or any other parameter you feel describes the scale of the data accurately
What field is the work you perform with big data applied in (Insurance, financial, health, academia, etc)? *
How large is the organization you perform data analysis for? *
Is it a local, regional, national o multinational organization?
What tools do you currently use to make your analysis work with your data? *
Are you satisfied with all aspects of these tools (performance, results quality, user-friendliness, adaptability, etc)? *
If not, kindly elaborate on the most painful aspects of your interaction with your tools.
Do you foresee, given your current database size and estimated growth, that your current tools might not be able to scale adequately with your needs? *
Do you currently outsource any aspect of your data analysis process to third parties? *
This applies to any cloud hosting services for processing and/or storage, online tools, data curating services, third party analysts, etc.
Is your database centralized, or is it distributed among different departments/sources/teams? *
If not centralized, is there an established data preprocessing/curating procedure in place, or must data be fitted to your analysis tools "by hand"?
How much of the data available to you is actually used to make decisions? *
Feel free to estimate a percentage here
If not all the data is used, what is keeping you from making use of all the data available to you?
Is the discarded data not relevant, redundant? Is it an analysis complexity problem? Is it a limitation imposed by the availability of analysis resources?
Do you ever delete information from your database due to insufficient resources? *
This could be insufficient storage, processing resources, etc
Do you feel satisfied with the computing resources (storage, processing, etc) currently available to you to perform your work? *
At what percentage would you estimate that data analysis resources are utilized? ) *
This refers to both human and computational resources, Are they ever idle? Are they constantly overloaded?
How difficult is it to obtain additional data analysis resources when they are required? *
Is there a bureaucratic wall which must be scaled? If possible, provide information about the frequency of acquisition of new equipment.
How often do you update your decision making processes (algorithms, workflow, etc) to incorporate different data, or the same data in a different manner to improve accuracy or efficiency of results? *
