    YOUNG TEACHER OF THE YEAR

    Kansas-only Award Purpose To recognize teachers who are providing outstanding career and technical education programs for youth and/or adults in their respective fields and communities. Recipients of this award must have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique, and novel programs that are serving to improve and promote career and technical education. Eligibility Individual members who are currently employed as full-time classroom/laboratory teachers in a career and technical education program other than at the baccalaureate level are eligible recipients for this award. Nominees must be classroom/laboratory teachers at the time of selection. Candidate must be in his/her sixth through tenth year of educational service and be a dues-paying member of K-ACTE.

    AWARD OF MERIT

    Kansas-only Award Purpose To recognize individuals or organizations outside the field of career and technical education for the highest meritorious contributions to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of career and technical education. Eligibility Business firms, industries, online communities, boards of education, boards of trustees, lay citizens groups, state or national committees and any other types of organizations that have contributed significantly to career and technical education are eligible recipients of this award.

    POLICYMAKER OF THE YEAR

    Kansas-only Award Purpose This award is presented annually by the K-ACTE Board of Directors to a nationally or state recognized policymaker who has made a contribution of national or state significance to career and technical education. Eligibility This award is presented to the individual or individuals who are determined to have made the most significant impact on policy related to career and technical education either during the past year or over an extended career of public service. One award is presented each year. The award is open to individuals having decision-making authority as evidenced by public or legal sanctions. (The award is not limited to one recipient.)

    ACTE TEACHER OF THE YEAR

    For members employed as full-time classroom/laboratory CTE teachers at the secondary level.

    ACTE POST-SECONDARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR

    For members employed as full-time postsecondary CTE teachers or teacher educators.

    For members employed as full-time CTE administrators, program specialists, coordinators, and all other CTE personnel and staff (not employed as teachers or guidance professionals).

    For members employed as full-time classroom/laboratory CTE teachers (at the secondary or postsecondary level) who are new to the teaching profession (3-5 years’ experience).

    To recognize a person (nonmember), business, company, government (local, state, federal) or community-based agency or a representative there of (outside the FACS profession), who has exemplified extraordinary support and concern for Family and Consumer Sciences and NATFACS.

    NATFACS AWARD OF MERIT

    To recognize a member (must have been a member of ACTE and NATFACS for a minimum of 10 years) who has made significant contribution to Family and Consumer Sciences, and/or ACTE, and/or NATFACS who is considered to be an outstanding leader in the field. The winner will be awarded a life-time membership to NATFACS.

    NATFACS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

    To recognize a member (must have been a member of ACTE and NATFACS for a minimum of 10 years) for outstanding service to NATFACS and professional contributions above and beyond the traditional expectation of duties assumed. The winner will be awarded a life time membership to NATFACS.

    NATFACS NEW PROFESSIONAL AWARD

    To recognize a member (ACTE and NATFACS) who has completed no more than five years (applicant may be in the sixth year) of teaching Family and Consumer Sciences for significant contributions in the classroom, through curriculum development and/or providing multiple FCCLA opportunities for students.

    To recognize a member (ACTE and NATFACS) who is a Family and Consumer Sciences Education classroom teacher for outstanding marketing endeavors and promotional ideas for the continued development and enhancement of Family and Consumer Sciences Education.

    FACS DIVISION OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS AWARD

    Recipient MUST be a member of the Family and Consumer Sciences Division. Contributions to Family and Consumer Sciences and the FCS division of ACTE will be emphasized.

    1. Recipients will be individuals or groups outside Family and Consumer Sciences Education, such as: a. U.S. Representatives or Senators b. Business and industry people or groups c. People or groups from the media d. Other professionals e. Others—unspecified 2. To be qualified, a recipient must have made significant contributions to Family and Consumer Sciences Education beyond local levels in one or more of the following areas: a. Service b. Monetary Support c. Other unusual or unique contributions. 3. Duration of the contribution(s) over time will be considered.
