CALL FOR COURSE PARTICIPANTS
Advancing Accountable Resource Governance in Asia Pacific 2018
8 – 19 January 2018, Bangka Belitung, Indonesia
Department of Politics and Government, Universitas Gadjah Mada and Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) invite applications for a two-week ‘Advancing Accountable Resource Governance in Asia Pacific 2018’ course in Belitung, Indonesia.
Since 2013, the Asia Pacific Knowledge Hub (The Hub) promotes transparency and accountability policies and practices among key actors in the extractive industries in the region. The Hub that is hosted by the Department of Politics and Government convene multi-stakeholder policy dialogues among academia, communities and CSOs, executive and legislative leaders, the private sector and State-owned companies (SOCs). Furthermore, the Hub initiated action-oriented research and delivered intensive courses to improve the governance of oil, gas and mining extractive sectors in the region. Now on its fifth batch, DPP and NRGI is conducting the course entitled Advancing Accountable Resource Governance in Asia Pacific on January 8-19, 2018 in Bangka Belitung, Indonesia.
The course is designed for CSO activists, private sector employee, EITI secretariat staffs, State-owned extractive companies, government officials, and journalists. A priority is given to the candidate who are coming from the following countries: Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Timor-Leste. However, other countries in the Asia Pacific region are welcome to apply.
Application
The course is offered to intermediate-level professional that seek to deepen their understanding on mining, oil and gas industries. Interested applicants is expected to follow the instruction below to be considered as a participant:
- Fill in the following application form;
- Send your latest curriculum vitae;
- Send a copy of your passport;
- Send a support/recommendation letter from your supervisor;
- Send the link to a personal introduction video (3 minutes) or an essay (1500 words) that explains your background, why should the committee chose you as a participant, and what are the contributions that you can give to the Hub during and after the course.

aspachub.polgov@ugm.ac.id with a subject: Aspachub 2018 Course Application - [applicant’s name] no later than 20th October 2017. Only short listed applicants will be contacted for further interview.
Course Fee
The basic course fee for the whole two-week event is USD 2,300. This includes the course tuition, a course booklet, local transportation, meals, and accomodation (twin-sharing room) during the course. The fee does not include visa, travel expenses from the participant home country to the course location and return.
Scholarship
Scholarships on a competitive basis are awarded for 10 participants who are coming from the aforementioned priority countries. This scholarship covers the course fee, and all travel expenses, including the return trip to and from the course location.
