What is Bed-Stuy Pride?

On Saturday, August 17th from 12:00-6:00pm the Audre Lorde Project’s Safe OUTside the System’s (S.O.S) Collective will host the 3rd Annual Bed-Stuy Pride to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, two spirit, transgender and gender-non-conforming people of color living in the Bed-Stuy community. The day will feature performances, workshops, artists, music, vendors, family friendly activities and more!

About The Safe OUTside the System Collective:
The Safe OUTside the System Collective is an anti-violence program led by and for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit, Trans, and Gender Non Conforming people of color. We are devoted to challenging hate and police violence by using community based strategies rather than relying on the police. SOS is a project of the Audre Lorde Project.  The Audre Lorde Project is a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit, Trans and Gender Non Conforming People of Color community organizing center.

As the Audre Lorde Project, Inc is a 501©3 approved organizations, your voluntary contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Vendors have access to over 500 Bed-Stuy residents on the day of Bed-Stuy pride, and free online advertising prior to the event through our listserv of over 2,000 NYC residents. In addition, Bed-Stuy pride vendors will appear in the Bed-Stuy pride program. There is a flat fee for all vendors based on space and capacity of organization/business.

Priority space will be given to local Bed-Stuy businesses, Current SOS Safe Spaces, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit, Transgender and Gender-Non-Conforming people of color owned and operated businesses/organizations.

Endorsers are organizations or businesses who promote Bed-Stuy Pride through their membership, and through outreach and online promotion. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO FEE TO ENDORSE.  Endorsers are placed, as appropriate, on media releases/announcements/fliers as a “Bed-Stuy Pride 2012 Official Endorser” and receive verbal acknowledgement the day of.
