We know that our customers are using the Smartbar for different reasons and that the Smartbar is not configurable enough. For example, administrators can’t customize the Smartbar based on their end-users’ needs or their company’s strategy.

In the future, we want to have a more configurable Smartbar where administrators can choose which features are activated. As a first step (and this has been the most requested feature for several months now), we added the ability to disabled the Create Office files feature.

As a domain super administrator, if you want to disable the Create Microsoft Office files feature from the Google Drive New menu, please fill in this form.

Note: This will not prevent your users from importing existing Microsoft Office files. They just won't have an easy way to create them.
