History and Purpose
The Reverend Robert E. Green Memorial Scholarship of $1000 is awarded each year to a graduating high school senior from San Joaquin County. The scholarship was established by the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Stockton on the occasion of Rev. Green’s twentieth year serving as minister for the church. Reverend Green was active in community affairs and an advocate for social change. He was well respected for his outstanding leadership with Stockton Metro Ministry and the Stockton Shelter for the Homeless. A scholarship applicant must verify his/her involvement in community service and contributions to the well being of others, either within our community or beyond. The Scholarship is awarded for the purpose of advancing the recipient’s further education in the school year beginning the summer or fall after their graduation. Scholarship funds are paid directly to the accredited institution at which the student will be enrolled. Preference may be given to an eligible student from the First Unitarian Universalist Church.

The criteria for awarding the scholarship include:
- Enrollment in an accredited school immediately following graduation;
