Campus's Beyond Coal Sign-Up Survey

Through the Campus Climate Challenge, students across the nation pushed their universities to be models of sustainability through renewable energy purchases, efficiency program, green fees and setting green building standards. Currently, there are over 500 universities committed to reduce their carbon emissions to zero through the Presidents Climate Commitment, but few have taken the necessary steps to make this happen.

The Campuses Beyond Coal campaign aims to leverage the efforts of the past three years to end our campus’ dependence on coal, both from on campus sources and off the grid. This is a critical step toward ending our nation’s dependence on coal in the West and beyond as campuses are often the largest electricity purchasers in their communities.

We will openly call for a transition away from coal to clean energy solutions for every campus in the country, shutting down their on-campus coal plants and ending their dependence on coal-generated electricity from the grid. This will create the opportunity for campuses to create, research and model the alternatives to coal for energy as well as allow us to leverage the victories and bring added support to off-campus campaigns fighting proposed coal plants or working to retire existing ones.

The SSC through the Campus's Beyond Coal Campaign, will be providing essential resources to student organizers such as your campus's energy profile, local media strategy guides, community leader sign-on letters, and a guide to create an alternative energy plan with your campus Energy Manager.

We need your help! Become a Campus's Beyond Coal organizer and help move your campus and community past their energy dependence on dirty coal and onto the path to energy independence through the implementation of 100% Clean Energy.
