Boston Theater Critics Association Nominating Committee Application

The Boston Theater Critics Association is looking to assemble a diverse committee of
nominators beginning next season (April 1, 2023 - March 31, 2024) who are passionate and knowledgeable about theater to serve on our nominating committee for the Elliot Norton Awards.

 This is a one-year, volunteer position requiring a commitment to attend Boston-area theater productions in either the “Large,” “Midsize,” or “Small” categories (nominating committee members will be assigned to one of these three groups). 

Applicants with critical expertise are invited to apply, including those with academic backgrounds as faculty or graduate students, journalists, and/or years of consistent theater attendance. Members must be able to critically analyze all areas of production and meet time commitments related to attending performances.

Criteria: 

  • Members must commit to seeing shows for one full season, April 1 to March 31 of the following year. 
  • Members must see 80% of shows in their assigned category, anytime during its run after its initial press opening.
  • Members must not be employed by any greater Boston theater company covered by the BTCA.
