As the holiday season approaches, I want to share with you a story that illustrates why your support is so critical this year.

This holiday season, a grandmother caring for her four young grandchildren is facing a heartbreaking reality: there will be no Christmas gifts. With no help from the children’s parents and very little support from the state, she fears her grandchildren will feel forgotten. To avoid them thinking that Santa skipped them because they were “bad,” she has to tell them the hardest thing: that Santa isn't real.

Can you imagine having to choose between protecting a child’s self-esteem and keeping the magic of Christmas alive?

Right here in Las Vegas, nearly 25,000 children can’t live safely with their parents. The fortunate ones are placed with grandparents or other relatives in what’s known as kinship care. While this care provides stability and love, financial support for these families is limited, leaving many struggling to make ends meet.

At Foster Kinship, we support these families year-round, and during the holidays, we want to do something special. We believe every child should wake up on Christmas morning to the joy and magic of the season, and we need your help to make that happen!

Here’s how you can brighten a child’s Christmas:

• Purchase gifts from a child’s personal holiday wish list
• Host a toy drive for our Santa's Workshop event
• Donate funds for us to buy gifts on your behalf
