In 2015, the Collaborative Conference on Student Achievement (CCSA) began to include student voices in the conversation around academic achievement. Because of the positive reception, we have extended this focus to include student-led concurrent sessions. This year, we are pleased to announce that we will continue this tradition by once again including student-led concurrent sessions as well as student presentations as a keynote session during Tuesday's luncheon.
If you are aware of student presenters or an adult mentor who would like to bring students to present at the CCSA conference from March 20-22, 2017 please have them complete the Student Session Proposal Form for the concurrent session, the keynote session, or both. Proposals must be submitted before January 27, 2017. If you have any questions about the concurrent session, please contact
Justyn.Knox@dpi.nc.gov . If you have questions about the keynote session, please contact
Fay.Gore@dpi.nc.gov.
For Concurrent Sessions:
Students (or adult mentor) are invited to submit proposals that highlight practices that improve educational outcomes for students.
The concurrent session proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
(1) 90-minutes in length
(2) presenter’s experience presenting before an adult audience
(3) alignment to one of the 25 topic categories
(4) participant engagement
For the keynote session:
Students (or adult mentor) are invited to submit an application to participate in the keynote session. The focus of this year’s keynote is Profiles of Student Success: Educating the Whole Child. During this session, approximately five students will share their story of how their school experience prepared them for student success by creating an environment that was one or more of the following Whole Child Tenets: Healthy, Safe, Engaging, Supportive, and/or Challenging. Each student will deliver a 3-5 minute presentation that highlights, a program, project, an educator, a community organization, etc. that enabled them to be successful.
