To align these efforts, academic medical institutions are invited to become partners in the High Value Practice Academic Alliance, a consortium working to advance high value practice through collaborative quality improvement, research and education. Through cross-institutional collaboration, we can expand successful initiatives, identify the methodologies most likely to modify practice, and lead large-scale improvements across the country. There is no cost to join.
Benefits of Membership:1. Member institutions participate in the program design for the national conference.2. Faculty can serve as abstract reviewers for the national conference. 3. Faculty of member institutions receive a registration discount at the national meeting. 4. The alliance is co-authoring implementation guidelines to assist new centers with value-improvement initiatives and will host free educational webinars.. 5. The opportunity to be part of an organization leading the transition to high value health care.
HVPAA membership requirements include the following:1. Approval by your institution's leader (Dean, CMO, President, etc) or your department chair2. Implement at least 1 value improvement project (VIP) in your medical center annually

The inaugural national research symposium of the High Value Practice Academic Alliance will be held on October 9, 2017 in Baltimore, MD, sponsored by the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. The conference will include abstract presentations demonstrating evidence of patient care quality improvement in concert with cost reduction, educational lectures from leaders in high value care and best-practice presentations. Preference will be given to abstracts involving medical students and house staff, as their education in high value care is the best guarantee for creating longstanding improvements in medical practice.
