High Value Practice Academic Alliance and National Research Symposium

As the cost of health care in the United States continues to rise, of utmost concern are reports that health care debt is now the most common cause of individual bankruptcy in the United States. To address these issues, medical providers, professional societies and medical centers across the country are working to reduce utilization of unnecessary tests, procedures and treatments that increase patients’ financial burden without adding value to their care. Research is critical to the success of this mission, to confirm that our ability to diagnose and treat patients will not be compromised by refined utilization and to elucidate the most effective means of physician behavior modification.

To align these efforts, academic medical institutions are invited to become partners in the High Value Practice Academic Alliance, a consortium working to advance high value practice through collaborative quality improvement, research and education. Through cross-institutional collaboration, we can expand successful initiatives, identify the methodologies most likely to modify practice, and lead large-scale improvements across the country. There is no cost to join.
