The ASIAROPE Olympiad is an international competition in Mathematics, Science, and English Journalism for Primary Levels (Grades 1 to 6), Secondary Levels (Secondary 1 to 4) and Senior Secondary Levels (Grade 11 & 12). It aims to promote excellence and proficiency in Mathematics, Science and Technology, and English Journalism through friendly global competitions and to promote tourism of and for Asia and Europe.

EXAM GUIDELINES
1. You have 90 minutes to finish this competition.
2. You must use the official paper to write your article on.
3. You will be given a topic or issue as your reference in writing your editorial article.  
4. You must upload your handwritten article before the time lapses.
5. You are not allowed to use dictionary or the internet to aid you in writing your article.
6. Any attempt to seek help from other sources or persons shall be a ground for disqualification
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

a. Technical Aspect – 35%
- Uses lead that is clear and focused on the most important detail
- Arranges details of the event in decreasing importance
- Organizes information properly
- Avoids the use of words with controversial elements or double-meaning
- Avoids personal slants
- Has clear and unbiased headline
- Uses short and simple words
- Conforms with the principles of unity and coherence
- Observes the rules of grammar and syntax
- Uses transitions properly

b. Content – 50%
- Uses appropriate lead type to get the readers’ attention
- Presents to the readers the most important detail of the event
- Follows logical presentation of the event and emphasizes the most important or relevant facts
- Follows the correct news writing format/style
- Uses appropriate transitions

c. Ethics – 15%
- Observes ethical and professional standards for journalism: accuracy, fairness, balance and relevance
- Cites sources properly
- Observes copyright laws; avoids plagiarism
