USMC Schola: Beethoven's Ninth
We have been invited to sing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Corktown Chamber Orchestra (http://torontoukes.wixsite.com/corktownco) this May.

In a revolutionary move, the so-called "choral symphony" employs voices in the last movement, setting words from Schiller's "Ode to Joy" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ode_to_Joy). In the video below, you can see Barenboim bring the singers to their feet just after 07:15.

We will be singing in German. Lots of help will be provided with pronunciation!

Rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays, beginning with two rehearsals for choir only (April 17 and 24) then three with the orchestra (May 1, 8, 15). The Concert is on Thursday, May 17. All dates are posted and will be updated here: https://usmcscholacantorum.wordpress.com/schedule/.

Scores will be available soon. Audio learning files are available here: http://cyberbass.com/Major_Works/Beethoven_L_v/beethoven_9th_symphony.htm

I’d be grateful if you could indicate your availability (or regrets) using the form below.

Thanks!
