This subcategory of creative thinking is concerned with the quantity of ideas you can come up with.

FLUENCY (Quantity) -- Generating Possible Solutions *

This subcategory of creative thinking is concerned with the quantity of ideas you can come up with.

1. I usually do not think about various possible solutions or approaches to a problem or project. I think of one solution or approach, and start to work on the problem or project.

2. I try to think of more than one possible solution or approach to a problem or project.

3. I generate a few solutions to a problem or project. I sometimes evaluate them using a variety of criteria to choose the best solution or approach.

4. I generate several possible solutions or approaches to a problem or project. I evaluate them using criteria of practicality, efficiency, and elegance to choose the best solution.

FLEXIBILITY -- How different are your ideas from one another? *

This subcategory of creative thinking is concerned with your ability to take different viewpoints and your ability to approach problems in different ways.

This subcategory of creative thinking is concerned with the quality of your ideas; their novelty or uniqueness.

1. I rely on existing examples, models, ideas, or directions. I follow rules and conventions. I use materials and ideas in typical ways.

2. I experiment with creating novel or unique ideas, forms, products, or solutions. I can formulate ideas or improvements, but my ideas are still rather predictable or conventional. I do try to step outside the rules and conventions, or to find new uses for common materials or ideas.

3. I create novel or unique ideas, forms, products, or solutions. My work is unique, surprising, and shows a personal touch.

4. I extend a novel or unique idea, form, product. or solution to create new knowledge or knowledge that crosses boundaries. My work may successfully break rules and conventions, or use materials in a new, clever, and surprising way.
