Teacher Application - Fort Wayne Clay
About Fort Wayne Clay

Fort Wayne Clay is a place where people come to slow down, make with their hands, and grow into confident potters surrounded by a supportive community. It’s a space where clay isn’t just a material — it’s a way to learn, connect, and keep becoming.

Students walk through the doors looking for something Simple, Easy, and Convenient that still feels meaningful. They find small classes, clear skills progression, and practice time that helps skills stick. The studio exists to make learning pottery approachable while creating an environment rooted in encouragement, curiosity, and genuine growth.

The culture here is built on learning together. Potters share techniques, celebrate wins, and learn from mistakes side by side. Teaching in the studio means helping people discover what they’re capable of while creating a space where everyone feels welcomed and supported as they grow.

The Dream

The vision is to become the place in the Fort Wayne area where people come to learn, grow, and connect through clay.

Over the next five years, that means bringing in visiting potters with diverse skills for workshops, hosting shows that celebrate ceramic artists, and continuing to expand opportunities for the community to learn and create. Teachers play an essential role in making that dream real — not by managing every part of it, but by shaping the daily experience students have when they walk into class.

Who We’re Looking For

Teachers here are knowledgeable ceramic artists who enjoy sharing what they know with others. The goal is to find people who genuinely love helping beginners grow, who are excited to continue learning themselves, and who believe encouragement is just as important as technique.

Ideal teachers are:

  • Experienced in ceramics and confident in their skills

  • Curious learners who continue exploring and growing in their own practice

  • Patient, encouraging guides who help students feel capable

  • Comfortable giving clear instruction and supportive feedback

  • Excited to share knowledge and celebrate student progress

  • Energized by being part of a supportive community and teaching in small classes

Teaching here isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating an environment where students feel safe to try, fail, and improve — while experiencing clear skills progression and enough practice time to build real confidence.

Why This Matters

Every class shapes how someone feels about pottery for years to come. The right teacher helps students feel welcomed, capable, and excited to return. That energy builds the supportive community that makes the studio special.

If you love pottery, enjoy helping others grow, and want to be part of a place where learning feels Simple, Easy, and Convenient for students and families, you’ll feel right at home here.

* This includes no sexual innuendos or harassment, no use of swear words, especially when children are present, and no drug paraphernalia or conversation. We expect this to be consistent in any representation of the studio.
