Gibbs & Bruns Moot Court Competition - 2015
Thank you for your interest in the Gibbs & Bruns Moot Court Competition!

This year, competitors will be asked to argue the current SCOTUS case of Spokeo, Inc. v. Robins, Docket No. 13-1339. This case involves a question of whether Congress may confer Article III standing upon a plaintiff who suffers no concrete harm, and who therefore could not otherwise invoke the jurisdiction of a federal court, by authorizing a private right of action based on a bare violation of a federal statute.

Competitors will be required to submit a short memo on the topic, not to exceed ten pages of double spaced text. Competitors will receive the formal assignment after they have completed signup. Please note that the written component is due when registration closes so don't wait until the last minute to register.

The written component will be due and registration will be closed at 11:59pm on October 20, 2015.

The schedule is subject to change if necessary. Signing up represents a commitment to compete on any or all of the dates below. Rounds will most likely begin at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. should be considered the latest a round may go, some dates may not have rounds at all. We will do our best to accommodate competitors who have unavoidable conflicts. However, competitors must make a good faith effort to remain available on the dates/times below and to inform the competition directors of any conflicts. If you have two or more serious conflicts with the schedule as set out below, please contact the tournament director (UTlawmootcourt@gmail.com) before completing the form.

Students, faculty, practitioners, and sponsors dedicate their valuable time to make these tournaments possible. In the interest of fairness and respect to all those involved, please be sure to act professionally in all aspects of involvement with the competition.

Please fill out your information below to ensure you receive future updates and information about the tournament and to secure your spot.

Our intention at this time is that the number of competitors will be capped at 16.  Preference will be given for competitors without significant conflicts. Other cuts, while unlikely, may be made on the basis of brief scores.
