Girls: Hemlock (4-5, 9-6) at Freeland (7-2, 11-4) *
Hemlock is a dangerous team, with Aubrey Alfano and Samantha Krauss. In the first meeting, Freeland beat Hemlock, 48-33, behind 15 points from Taryn Taugher. The game is part of Hoops for Diabetes III, a fundraiser for the Covenant HealthCare Foundation's Covenant Kids Fund. The game includes a special halftime performance by the Detroit Pistons' Flight Crew. Bavarian's Pick: Freeland 54, Hemlock 48
Girls: Midland High (8-2, 12-3) at Midland Dow (9-1, 12-2) *
The rivalry game will probably decide the Saginaw Valley League title. If Dow wins, it stands alone in first. If Midland wins, it probably creates a three-way logjam that includes Heritage. Dow won the first meeting behind Kaylee Wasco's 14 points. Bavarian's Pick: Dow 42, Midland High 39
Girls: Swan Valley (6-3, 9-5) at Bullock Creek (9-0, 15-0) *
Swan Valley has enjoyed a successful season, but Bullock Creek has state-championship goals. In the first meeting, Bullock Creek's Halee Nieman scored 21 points in a 56-32 win. Bavarian's Pick: Bullock Creek 61, Swan Valley 39
Boys: Arthur Hill (11-0, 13-3) at Saginaw High (8-2, 9-5) *
Neither team enter the rivalry game in a good mood, with Arthur Hill losing to Detroit Jesuit and Saginaw High falling to Dow. Not that it matters. The rivalry contains plenty of emotion, especially in the school district's current situation regarding the potenial closure of one of the schools. On the court, there is plenty of talent from Eric Davis to Brian Bowen to Ronquavious Southward. In the first meeting, Arthur Hill won 88-66. Bavarian's Pick: Arthur Hill 85, Saginaw High 76
Boys: Mount Pleasant (5-5, 6-7) at Heritage (2-9, 2-12) *
Both teams have been competitive, although Mount Pleasant has been more successful. The Oilers, who reached the state semifinals last season, have some scoring punch behind Obie Ricumstrict and Kalebb Perry, who scored 40 against Heritage in the first meeting, a 71-60 Oilers win. Bavarian's Pick: Mount Pleasant 65, Heritage 63
Boys: Frankenmuth (7-1, 10-2) at Essexville Garber (5-3, 10-3) *
Frankenmuth is still smarting from a loss to Ithaca, but the Eagles return to TVC East action against a Garber team that they beat, 59-46, in the first meeting. This, however, is a different Garber team. The Dukes have thrived with the addition of Trey Newsham. Bavarian's Pick: Garber 51, Frankenmuth 50
Boys: Hemlock (5-3, 8-5) at Freeland (6-2, 8-5) *
Hemock is the defending TVC Central champ, but has faced some injury problems this season. Still, Freeland's win over Alma has opened the door for a lot of TVC Central teams that think they have a chance at a title. Freeland can build on that momentum with a win over Hemlock. The Detroiit Pistons Flight Crew will also entertain at halftime of the boys game as part of the Hoops for Diabetes III fundraiser. In the first matchup, Jake Jankoska scored 17 in a 62-50 Freeland win, but Hemlock was without senior standout Brad Fleischmann. Bavarian's Pick: Freeland 64, Hemlock 63
Boys: Midland High (6-4, 8-5) at Midland Dow (6-4, 9-5) *
The teams have almost identical records and seasons, although Dow is coming off a last-second win over Saginaw High. Dow also beat Midland in the first meeting, 54-49, behind Alec Marty's 35 points. Midland collapsed in the first game, scoring just 18 points in the second half. Bavarian's Pick: Dow 59, Midland High 55
Boys: Reese (4-1, 9-4) at Vassar (2-3, 9-4) *
After a difficult non-conference schedule, Reese has emerged as a Greater Thumb power. In the first meeting, Jared Schrader scored 16 points as the Rockets' won a defensive battle, 38-34. Vassar has plenty of weapons, but Reese was effective at slowing Vulcans' standout Tyler Humpert in the first game. Bavarian's Pick: Vassar 45, Reese 42
Boys: Carrollton (5-3, 8-5) at Michigan Lutheran Seminary (8-0, 13-1) *
There is plenty off star power on the court, with Carrollton featuring sophomore Henry Speight and Seminary countering with Andrew Schroeder, Casey Williams and Nate Lindloff. Both teams are smarting from TVC crossover losses, Seminary to Millington and Carrollton to Essexville Garber. Bavarian's Pick: MLS 59, Carrollton 56
Tie-Breaker: Arthur Hill-Saginaw High total points *
