Who should NOT take it?
MBCT is challenging for persons who are currently suffering from acute major depression. The program will request participants to meditate and this may not be easy if you are in clinical depression phase. If you are not sure, we invite you to complete the sign up and the Intake form that we will send after you sign up. This may help determine if there are indications that you may be in clinical depression phase. If yes, we will request you to seek a consult a mental health professional first before joining the program. To protect your identity, the next step of the sign up, which is completing the Intake Form will no longer have your identifying information.
MBCT may not be the best option for persons diagnosed with Bipolar 1, Borderline Personality Disorder and those experiencing hallucination. It will also be best to seek one on one consult if you have severe and un processed trauma. MBCT is group work and severe trauma may need one on one processing.
