To sign up your K-12 student for music lessons through South Side Free Music Program, fill out the form below and we will match you with a UChicago student teacher on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The instruments for which we offer lessons depend on the talents of our volunteers, but in the past, we have offered instruction in piano, guitar, voice, saxophone, violin, cello, drums, among many others. Based on the information you provide in the google form, we will match your child with an appropriate teacher to the best of our ability. Any costs incurred by the purchase of instruments and teaching materials will be subsidized and/or completely reimbursed.
This year, we will likely be able to conduct in-person lessons at Logan Center for the Arts, albeit you may choose to hold virtual lessons if you or your teacher are uncomfortable with in-person activities. We will update you on in-person logistics.
We will be sending you a SSFMP manual, which contains more information about lessons and our organization, once your child gets paired with a teacher.
