Students in distress may act in a manner that disrupts a learning environment. As a caring faculty member, how does one go about connecting these students with appropriate helping resources, addressing the concerning behaviors, and minimizing the impact on the learning environment?

This advanced SafeZone training is designed for all levels of faculty and graduate teaching assistants. The training will utilize the K-State Office of Student Life's forthcoming "Faculty and Staff Guide for Students of Concern" and will focus on tips for successfully encountering students in distress or personal crisis; making appropriate helping referrals; establishing and communicating student behavioral expectations; employing strategies for anticipating, managing and minimizing learning environment disruptions and other student behavioral concerns.
