The topic we will be exploring is implementing the (2014 State Science Standards).  The new Oregon 2014 Science Standards  will be phased in slowly over the next 4 years. The idea is that districts can implement changes in local curriculum and to provide appropriate professional development for teachers and administrators prior to assessment slated to begin in 2018.  All of these things will require the teachers (K-12) and the administration in your district to develop a timeline to roll out the necessary changes that must happen to meet the needs of our students. The new science assessment is slated to begin in 2018-2019, which gives your districts four years to prepare and to make it right. I am very energized to be a part of this implementation and look forward to sharing with you what I gleaned from the last ODE conference to help integrate the new 2014 Science Standards into K-12 systems throughout region two.
