The attack on the Sharif University of Technology by the plainclothes forces of the regime in Iran on October 2nd was the peak of atrocities against the students and professors in several universities around the country in recent days. 

After the devastating killing of Mahsa Amini, numerous Iranians protested peacefully and denounced the violence that led to this tragedy. Yet, during these peaceful protests, many students have been arrested. Later on, a significant number of university students protested against this plethora of unfortunate events, and several professors suspended their classes until the freedom of all the detainees. 

We condemn the attack on Sharif University and other Iranian universities in the strongest terms possible.

We invite all the professors of Sharif University and other Iranian universities to refrain from holding classes until all the imprisoned students are free and the perpetrators of these crimes are brought to justice.

We call on all professors and students around the world to join us in condemning these attacks on universities by signing this statement. Undoubtedly, the reaction of professors and students worldwide to such crimes will be a strong deterrent. It will help reduce the possibility of repeating these crimes and the continuation of harsh treatment of educational and scientific institutions.
