WELCOME TO CALA PROJECT (Creative Arts to Language Acquisition)

Discover CALA, where language meets identity in migrant communities!

Our project promotes multilingualism and German language learning in migrant communities by empowering participants to embrace their linguistic heritage. We see language not just as a tool for communication, but as a core part of identity. Through expressive arts therapy and the innovative iLanguage philosophy by Dr. Carola Koblitz, CALA creates a space where participants can explore their identities and celebrate cultural diversity.

WHAT WE DO?

Expressive Arts Therapy tools: We use various art forms to help participants connect with their linguistic roots and express themselves creatively.
Cultural Heritage: We celebrate cultural diversity and promote a deeper appreciation for each individual's unique background.
Language Learning: We believe that learning a language fosters global citizenship and intercultural understanding.

WHY CALA?

CALA is more than just a language learning project; it's a transformative experience that equips participants with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in a multicultural world. By focusing on creativity and self expression, CALA helps build genuine connections and a more inclusive society.

IN PRACTICE...

Participants will practice German (sessions are in German) through various artistic forms.  The sessions have a therapeutic approach, as they are designed to make you feel good and relaxed. During the workshops we will be doing creative activities where you don't need to know anything, remember that under our vision "everyone is an artist" meaning that everything you need is already part of yourself.

FOR WHOM IS CALA?

  • Are you learning German and have nobody to talk to?
  • Want a safe, creative and non-judgmental environment to improve or practice your German?
  • Are you a migrant living in Vienna and would like to get to know new people with whom you can speak German?
  • Do you speak other languages and would like to open yourself up to multilingualism (and learn some tips)?
  • Do you feel frustrated and blocked because you are not able to express yourself in the German language?
  • Want to awaken your inner artist and learn a little more about yourself?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then CALA is for you!
