URGENT: Advising Strategies for Retention and Graduation

Academic Advising KickOff 2015
Friday, September 25, 2015 University of Memphis Collierville Center
Call For Proposals

Finding successful strategies for retaining and graduating students is urgent in higher education today. We can no longer afford to hope for the best or assume the student will come back later or "let us know" when they are ready to complete a degree. Many programs on our campus have been created with the notion that we must proactively engage students in their own success.

Academic advising and academic advisors can play a critical role in defining successful strategies for student success. Academic advisors are well aware of the many barriers and problems that prevent successful academic progress, retention, and graduation. A collaborative approach produces strategies inside and outside the classroom. What is your most productive strategy for helping your student survive and thrive? Share how you are changing the 6 year graduation rate.

Successful proposals will address advising issues in the context of this topic. Though all types of proposals will be of interest, the committee seeks presentations that target the individual advisor in their daily practice. Hands on, front lines, day to day advising tips, strategies, and methodologies are the focus of our conference. Both primary role and faculty advisors are encouraged to share their experience. Proposal teams that include a faculty advisor and a primary role advisor are guaranteed a place on the conference agenda.

Deadline for submitting Proposals is August 20, 2015.
