Charlotte Mecklenburg Library's Digital Strategy
The Library has spent the past 6 months developing a Digital Strategy to help us move seamlessly into the digital space in order to serve YOU better! Please let us know what you think of what we came up with, because above all we want to make sure our changes serve our community the best that they can.

One Login. One Interface. One Platform.
This will allow you to access all library materials with a single login. Instead of creating separate logins for each vendor we use to provide music, e-books, and digital movies, you'll be able to login in once and move between resources seamlessly.

Single Search Box
Captionless Image
This is an example of a single search box, aka how you "google" something. When you enter a key word, the search results will include the library catalog of not only books, movies, and other physical resources, but our programs we have in the library, e-resources such as e-books, and more. It would eliminate the need to go to many different places on the website to find the resources you are looking for.

This would allow you to opt-in for the library to save your search and borrowing history in order to give you recommendations and other personalized options, similar to Amazon. Your privacy is extremely important to us, so this would only be available as an opt-in feature, and you could opt-out at any time.

Online Programming

This would give library cardholders access to programming when they aren't physically at the library. Author and lecture series could be livestreamed and archived, classes could be available online, and storytimes could be available digitally for those times you can't be with us at the library.
