Hello! We’re Make It Beautiful Theatre Company, and we’d love to invite you to join us for our two-day Dream Machine Weekend Intensive on 7th & 8th November.

We’ve been making and performing improv since 2019, and at the heart of our work is one big question:

What happens when you give an audience the freedom to dream - and then turn those dreams into theatre?

The Dream Machine is our long-form improvised show.

At every performance, we take dreams from audience members and transform them into a completely improvised story. Characters, worlds, relationships and narratives emerge in real time - meaning every show is entirely unique.

For this intensive, we want to take you behind the curtain and teach you the methods behind the madness.

Over two days, we’ll explore our Dream Machine format alongside the techniques we use to keep creativity, collaboration and joy alive on stage. We’ll look at how to generate ideas, build compelling stories, make strong choices, listen to your scene partners and create something together without knowing where it’s going.

You’ll get to experience the principles behind our show from the inside - and discover how much freedom you can find when you stop worrying about getting it “right" or being "funny".

This isn't just a weekend workshop.

We’ve run three of these courses previously, and everyone who completes the course will be invited to join The Dream Machine Ensemble.

As an ensemble member, you’ll have access to further workshops, and we’ll endeavour to create opportunities to perform together. One of our previous course participants is now a member of the cast for The Dream Machine shows, and we see the ensemble as a brilliant opportunity to keep learning, making things and connecting with other improvisers.

If you’re looking for a way to develop your improv, meet other performers and become part of a creative community, we’d love to have you.

We're open to ALL LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE for this course, and whether you've improvised before or never set foot inside your improv imagination, we'd love to have you. 

Our company has performed around the UK and Europe with 5-star shows. We’ve been making improv together since 2019, and The Dream Machine has taken us around the country, and most recently landed us a slot at the Pleasance Theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. 

We’ve also had the pleasure of welcoming guest star performers including Ed Jones, Ify Nwadiwe, Lorna Rose Treen and Lara Ricote.

Our workshops have been delivered at LAMDA, Italia Conti, Trestle Arts Base, University of East Anglia, Southbank University, Alexandra Palace, the English Theatre of Hamburg and the Black Box Studio in Slovenia.

We'll be keeping the group to a limited number so that everyone gets plenty of time to play, experiment and work with the teachers and other participants.
