Fill out the form below to RSVP for the 2017 American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) teach-in, taking place at the First Baptist Church of Denver (1373 Grant Street) on Saturday, July 15th from 10 AM - 2 PM.
The American Legislative Exchange Council—more commonly known as ALEC—is holding their annual meeting in Denver from July 19 to 21, 2017. In response, a coalition of organizations will hold a teach-in on Saturday, July 15th in Denver to educate the public about ALEC's negative impact on economic, environmental, and social issues.
WHAT IS ALEC?
ALEC brings together corporate lobbyists and politicians to vote on model bills behind closed doors and without public input. These bills are then introduced into state legislatures across the country. ALEC is responsible for bills that loosen environmental regulations, enforce stricter voter identification rules, weaken labor unions and the rights of workers, and more.
ABOUT THE TEACH-IN
ALEC likes to operate in secrecy, and has done an excellent job keeping out of the public eye. As a result, few Americans are familiar with their organization. Join us for teach-in on Saturday, July 15th to learn about ALEC's role in health care, public education, climate change, net neutrality, voting rights, and more.
