We need your help to elect Matanuska Electric Association Board members who truly represent our community! Whether you’re an experienced canvasser or simply have a few minutes to text your friends, your support makes a difference.

In 2026, the Susitna River Coalition has endorsed Daniel Jensen for the Eagle River district and Connie Fredenberg for the at-large seat in the MEA Board of Directors election, taking place April 3–28.

In these often-overlooked elections, where only 10-13% of members vote, the most effective way to boost turnout is by reaching out to neighbors in person or by phone.

What is canvassing?

For all canvassing efforts we use the Alaska Voter Roll to find voters that are likely to vote for our candidates. You will be contacting folks who are highly likely to agree with our messaging but are unaware that they have the opportunity to vote in MEA elections.

Door-Knocking: You will use an app that shows a map of doors in a neighborhood to be knocked as well as information about the homeowner, a pre-made script, and a form to enter some short info about each interaction you have. You will not be expected to knock any doors alone and should only knock homes that you feel comfortable approaching. We will meet at a designated spot to disperse paper materials, snacks, and buddy up for canvassing!

Phone-Banking: You will be provided with a link to an online application that provides contact number and a bit of information about the voter you are calling as well as a script. Pizza, beverages, and good times provided!

On-Your Own: We also welcome support from folks who have time to knock, call, or text on your own schedule. If you can't make an event, we are happy to provide resources so you can support the campaign when you have time!
