Attorney Vineet Shahani, General Counsel for Mill, will engage with current STPP students in an informal conversation about his background in technology policy and climate work. Mr. Shahani will provide valuable insight into the daily operations of policy work in a tech company, as well as the pragmatic aspects of seeking policy jobs in Silicon Valley.

Vineet Shahani is General Counsel and leads policy and corporate development at Mill and has been working with the company since its founding in 2020.  Mill has raised $100M+ from top-tier investors, including Google Ventures and Breakthrough Energy Partners.  Built by the team that created the Nest Thermostat, Mill makes it easy to prevent food waste at home with an innovative new kitchen experience and pathways that keep food out of landfills.  Mill and the Mill kitchen bin was recently listed as one of TIME Magazine’s Top Inventions of 2023 and the sole finalist for Fast Company’s Design Company of the year.  

 Before Mill, Vineet was a senior lawyer at Google, where he led a global legal team that counseled the consumer hardware business on transactions, product issues, marketing strategy, international expansion and public policy.  Vineet came to Google as a senior member of the team that sold Nest to Google in 2014, the second largest acquisition in Google's history.  Prior to Google/Nest, Vineet was a senior lawyer at Apple, where he advised on product issues and transactions around the world during a foundational period for iPhone, iPad and Mac.  Vineet was part of the team that brought iPhone manufacturing to Brazil.  Prior to Apple, Vineet was Assistant General Counsel at Enova International, a financial technology firm, and a corporate attorney at Latham & Watkins LLP, based in the firm's Washington, D.C. and Chicago offices.  Vineet received a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a business degree from the University of Michigan.
