Hull PTO Award Criteria


The Hull PTO Award is bestowed annually to a student of an active Hull PTO member in good standing. An active member in good standing is one who has paid their annual dues by December 31st, of the year prior to the candidate's graduation year.

Two $1,000 Awards are  given to a high school senior who plans on furthering their education.  

Application Criteria:
1.  Student of a Hull PTO member in good standing (dues paid by December 31st, the year prior to the candidate's graduation year).
2.  Verified Family/Guardian/Student service contribution to the Hull PTO.
3.  Completed on line application (google docs)
4.  A typed essay on "My favorite PTO sponsored activity was", "How did the Hull PTO enhance my education? ", “What Makes Me a Good Overall Candidate for the Hull PTO Award?” ** Please include plans for furthering your education in the essay.
5. 2.4 or higher weighted GPA (documented by an OFFICIAL HHS transcript).

The candidate(s) will complete an application and submit to the Hull PTO by Friday, April 18th at midnight of the candidate's graduation year.

The Hull PTO Award Chairperson will assign each student an ID number, so that the essay and  application  are viewed anonymously.  The Hull PTO Retired Teachers Award Subcommittee will review and score all essays and the PTO subcommittee will review the applications and scoring of the essays to determine the winner.  In the case of a tie, the winning candidate will be selected by a majority vote of the Hull PTO Board of Directors.

The Hull PTO Award will be given to the student at the Hull High School Scholarship/Award Ceremony. The recipient will have until June 30th of the year following graduation to collect the Award monies. He/She/They will mail proof of attendance of  his/her/their first semester classes (i.e. a copy of their school transcript or diploma) to the Hull PTO President or his/her/their designee as listed in the Award letter. If the Award recipient fails to submit proof of attendance by the date listed above, he/she/they will forfeit the Award.
