Walford Mill Education Trust Ltd is a registered charity, based in an historic former mill building on the northern edge of Wimborne, East Dorset.
It is surrounded by attractive riverside grounds and there is an on-site café. Since its inception in 1986, Walford Mill has provided a creative hub for the local community and a wide network of artists, makers and visitors from across the whole of Dorset.
The Mill grounds welcomes over 50,000 visitors per year.
Walford Mill provides the focus for encouraging, promoting and maintaining high standards of contemporary art and craft work in the region. It aims to encourage visitor participation through a programme of exhibitions and workshops, for all ages, offering a creative education programme in purpose built facilities.
Being a Charity, volunteer help is needed to keep everything running smoothly.
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic volunteers to help with various aspects of Mill life. Activities that volunteers could have the opportunity to help out with include:
- Operational support within the Mill, such as assisting with setting up exhibitions
- Supporting onsite makers with site wide events
- Meeting and greeting the general public, providing information on the Mill's background and fielding general enquiries
- Helping with the upkeep of the grounds and planting
- Helping on plant swap events
- Aiding supervision on site at festival, theatrical and craft market events
- Photography and Social Media material (including PR)
- Providing industry insight to new and developing artists, designers and makers
- Helping out at evening events and promotions
All skill sets are valuable and appreciated! We are a friendly bunch, so please get in touch if you would like to come for an informal chat.
