PWiGS Summer Discussion Series with Prof. Meredith Hastings
The Princeton Women in GeoSciences Initiative invites you to two days of roundtable discussions with Professor Meredith Hastings, Assistant Professor of Geological Sciences at Brown University, GEO Alumna (PhD '04), and co-founder of the Earth Science Women's Network.

The series will be held on Thursday, June 12th and Friday, June 13th in Guyot 100.

Please fill out your information below and indicate which of the series' events you plan attend. This is to provide us with a tentative head count, so please RSVP optimistically for any events that you may possibly attend.

We will contact those who indicate interest in one-on-one or small group meetings with Professor Hastings to set meeting times.

Thursday, 6/12, 12-1:30 = Roundtable on Recognizing and Coping with Unconscious Bias *
The PWiGS organizers will present a summary of recent research on manifestations of unconscious bias in academic settings, followed by an open discussion moderated by Professor Hastings. Lunch will be served.
Friday, 6/13, 9:30-11 = Roundtable on Balancing Personal and Professional Responsibilities in Academia *
Professor Hastings will be joined by special guest post doctoral fellows and graduate students to provide perspectives on navigating personal/professional balancing acts while on the academic career track, followed by open discussion. Breakfast will be provided.
Friday, 6/13, 12-1:30 = Career and Job Negotiation Discussion with Professor Hastings *
Professor Hastings will give a brief overview of her career trajectory and decision-making process, followed by an open Q&A discussion with particular emphasis on job negotiation strategies. Lunch will be provided.

Professor Hastings will be available for one-on-one or small group meetings to discuss scientific and nonscientific topics. All meetings will be held between 2-6 PM on Thursday, 6/12 in Guyot Hall. If you indicate that you may be interested in meeting with Professor Hastings, you will be directed to the next page to provide your availability. Otherwise, you will be directed to submit your RSVP.
