United States v. Urumelog, in which Rowena Urumelog of the Northern Mariana Islands appeals her jury conviction and sentence for making a false statement in an immigration document.
Cases Nos. 12-15913 and 12-17845
Yamada v. Weaver, in which plaintiffs Jimmy Yamada et al. appeal a district court ruling pertaining to provisions of Hawaii’s campaign finance disclosure law that are intended to allow the public to determine the financial backers of campaign advertising. The district court upheld some provisions but found that a contribution limit imposed by the law was unconstitutional as applied to the plaintiffs’ past and proposed contributions to a registered political action committee. A companion appeal deals with the district court’s order pertaining to attorney fees.
