San Diego JusticeCorps Full-Time Application Program Year 2015-2016

PLEASE NOTE: You cannot save this application once you have started. There are several short essay questions that may require more time than you have available in one sitting. There is no character limitation so write as much as you feel necessary to adequately answer each question.

This application is for college graduates and graduating seniors who will no longer be in school in late-August/early-September 2015. Students who will be enrolled in school as an undergraduate or graduate student for the 2015-2016 program year must use the Part-time member application. The application deadline is 5:00pm on Friday, March 6, 2015.

Before You Apply, Make Sure You Qualify:

► All JusticeCorps applicants must be 17 years or older, a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States with a high school diploma/GED. Eligibility documentation must be presented if an applicant is invited to participate in the interview stage of the review process.
►Applicants to the JusticeCorps Full-Time position must have a bachelor’s degree by August 15, 2015 from any accredited four year college or university. All majors are welcome to apply.
► JusticeCorps Full-Time Members must be able to complete 1700 hours of service between late-August 2015 and mid-August 2016.
► Participants must provide continuous service throughout the entire program year (August–August).
► Participants must attend orientation on September 19-20, 2015. Failure to attend orientation will result in immediate disqualification from the program.
► All JusticeCorps applicants must pass a San Diego County security check, a live scan fingerprinting conducted by the San Diego Superior Court Human Resources Department and a National Sex Offender Public Registry database check to qualify as an AmeriCorps member. Applicants who reside out of California at the time the application is submitted are also required to clear a background check from the current state of residence, in addition to the live scan performed in San Diego.

Skills Required to be a Full-Time Member:

►One of the following must be satisfied: successful completion of JusticeCorps (minimum term/300 hour position), successful
completion of a national service (AmeriCorps) program other than JusticeCorps, or an equivalent volunteer/work experience.
► Ability to apply information learned in training sessions
► Possession of strong verbal communication skills
► Possession of strong writing skills
► Good organizational skills and ability to follow through with assigned tasks
► Ability to interact professionally with litigants, peers, court staff, supervisors, and bench officers
► Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and stressful environment
► Ability to work well as part of a team
