Backpackers & Responsible Tourism: Reference to Southeast Asia
I am a fourth year student at Glasgow Caledonian University studying International Tourism Management. I am required to complete a final research project/dissertation. I have chosen to study whether or not backpackers contribute to Responsible tourism while travelling through destinations within Southeast Asia. This dissertation requires me to carry out primary research, which is why I need respondents who have previously traveled around Southeast Asia to participate in this survey. Please note all responses to this survey will remain anonymous and you are not obligated to complete the survey, you may quit at anytime.
Responsible tourism has been a buzz word in the tourism industry for a number of years and it is a vital topic to consider within the industry. Its popularity has been fueled by an increase in pressure on the tourism industry to address and prevent issues of global warming, social inequality and the ruining of natural resources. The overall aim of Responsible tourism is to respect a destinations natural, built and cultural environments and honor the interests of all the people and organisations concerned.
