National Voter Registration Day for Puerto Rico

The National Puerto Rican Day Parade and the Hispanic Federation are partnering to announce a call to action for a National Voter Registration Day for Puerto Rico to be organized for Sunday, June 12, 2016 – coinciding with the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City.

We are asking community, labor, faith, civil rights, health, environmental, economic justice and civic engagement institutions from coast to coast – Puerto Rican, Latino and allies – to organize local voter registration drives that day with a focus on highlighting the plight of Puerto Rico and the escalating debt crisis.

Hispanic Federation will contact each interested organization to plug them into existing regional efforts or work with your team to brainstorm and develop materials for the event. In partnership with the National Puerto Rican Agenda coalition, we will also create an Puerto Rico Action Card that can be distributed at all voter drives, urging participants to call Congress on June 13th to support the passage of progressive legislation for Puerto Rico.
