This form serves to enroll undergraduate students at the University of Tennessee in the TESOL Certificate administered by the English Department. Full details on the certificate can be found in the catalog. Students may expect to have the certificate added to their academic profile within two weeks. If you have any questions about the certificate's requirements, please contact the TESOL Certificate Coordinator, Dr. Tanita Saenkhum (tsaenkhum@utk.edu). For other questions, please contact the Associate Director of Undergraduate Education, Mr. Dennis McGlothin (dmcgloth@utk.edu).

Here is the checklist for completing the certificate program; please discuss with your advisor to make sure that you will be able to complete all of the requirements before graduation.

Please note: If you are planning on graduating in Spring 2025 or earlier, you might not be able to complete the certificate. You will need to have completed ENGL/LING 371 or 372 ENGL/LING 474 and 476 prior to enrolling in ENGL 493 (the practicum at the end of the program), and if you haven't taken them already, there simply won't be the opportunity to take those courses in time to complete the practicum in time for a Spring 2025 graduation.
