Does The Media Abuse Fear?

Often, the media coins nicknames to things like serial killers, diseases and natural disasters. Do you think this adds to the level of fear surrounding them? (Eg. Serial killer Ed Gein - also called 'Leatherface' and is the inspiration for movies like 'Psycho' and 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'; or 'Hurrican Katrina' - in which giving it a human name personifies it and makes it more personal). If yes, please explain. *
What is your opinion on American gun laws? Do you think that we should allow firearms to be widely and easily accessible to Australians? Why/Why not? *
In 2015, of the thousands of Americans were surveyed, 76% believed that terrorism was the #1 priority of the American government. However, there were only 25 US noncombatant fatalities from terrorism worldwide in 2010 and 17 in 2011, whereas obesity kills between 100,000-400,000 Americans per year. Do you think that what is shown on the news has a lot to do with the miss-informed priorities of Americans? Please explain your answer. *
