A strong social media presence is a must for a student-led advocacy organization like STAND. As the Social Media Specialist, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and growing our online reach. You’ll be expected to generate multiple Facebook messages and Tweets on a variety of topics each day, taking the initiative to find and post items (e.g. conflict updates, in-depth articles, infographics, etc.) that our followers will find interesting. You’ll also provide input to other leadership team members on the best way to utilize these platforms for campaigns, and stay up to date on emerging social media platforms with an eye to how STAND might be able to use them to reach new audiences and further our mission. In all of this, you’ll work closely with the Communications Coordinator to ensure that our messaging is consistent across all of our online platforms.

Weekly time commitment: 7-10 hours
Position-specific qualifications:
1) Experience with Twitter and Facebook Pages, at a minimum; experience with Google+ and other platforms preferred
2) Creativity and initiative to locate and post a variety of content types
3) Willingness to make our social media presence truly interactive by engaging other users as necessary in Facebook comment threads and Twitter conversations
4) Ability to utilize professional yet accessible language in crafting Facebook and Twitter posts
