Our nature sanctuary is home to a diverse native prairie plant community. Trails wind through fields of Canada wild rye, side-oats grama, little bluestem and Indian grass, and are lined with vervain and blazing star. Swamp milkweed lines the daylighted Trout Brook, which winds throughout the site. Volunteers play a huge role in restoring this park’s native habitat. They help us control invasive species such as crown vetch, spotted knapweed and musk thistle, which constantly threaten the integrity of Trout Brook’s native plant community.”
No experience necessary...Just a desire to be outdoors and learn about this local prairie and how YOU can restore it.
