Qualifying for Board Candidacy Board Director candidates must:
- Be an owner in good standing and committed to our values, vision and ends of the Co-op
- Commit to a 3-year term of service and attending all meetings
- Have consistent time for Board service (8-10 hrs monthly)
- Enjoy working collaboratively and a willingness for collective decision-making
- Help to create an inclusive and welcoming environment
RequirementsAttend at least one Board meeting and/or meet with current Board Directors before Sept 1.

- Why you would like to serve on the Co-op Board of Directors. Please include skills, interests, and experience you would bring, including your top two personal/business skills.
- How many hours are you able to commit to
Co-op Board of Directors activities per month?
- What do you think is the most important role of the Board (collectively) and a Board Director (individually)?
- Please share something you think the Co-op should focus on in the long term.

Candidate Declaration
I declare that I am a candidate for the Cook County Co-op Board of Directors and:
- I recognize that as a Board Director I will have a fiduciary responsibility to the owners to act in an informed and prudent manner
- I recognize that as a Board Director I will have a duty to represent the owners at large and to act in the collective’s best interests (not those of any faction thereof)
- I understand that requirements of serving as a
Board Director include, but are not limited to:
- Becoming familiar with the Co-op’s bylaws, policies and financial statements
- Becoming familiar with Policy Governance as it relates to the Cook County Co-op
- Attend board training sessions,
- Be prepared for and attend monthly board meetings (4th Tuesday of the month)
- Serve on one or more committees throughout the year
