Financial Hardship Application 

Thank you for your interest in studying with the Baltimore Improv Group!

Our Diverse Voices and Financial Hardship Scholarships were created to provide financial aid to those in need as well as to educate and broaden the variety of comedic voices found in our theater and in the greater Baltimore comedy community as a whole.  

There are 2 Categories of Scholarships available:  Diverse Voices and Financial Hardship Scholarships. Please note that applications will be responded to in the 2 weeks leading up to the Class Session Starting.  

All recipients are also eligible to receive assistance with financial planning such as paying for classes in 2-3 installments. Scholarships are valid for Core Curriculum courses only.


Another great source of supplementing your class fees is by volunteering with the Front of House.

Front of House is basically processing ticket sales, checking online tickets, selling concessions, stamping student cards, and assisting with any general tasks that come up. You also have the perk of watching shows whenever there is downtime.

Here is the info about how BIG FOH volunteering works: 
BIG has a volunteer barter system that allows BIG students to supplement class fees and other (pre-approval) expenses. This is also a great way for up-and-coming players to contribute to the upkeep of the theater and to establish themselves in the theater, as well as get a lot of class credit to pay for classes!

Volunteer hours are available in exchange for (1) Class Credit (101 through 501), (2) Show tickets*, or (3) house workshops**.
One volunteer hour earns $15 in credit. There is no cash value for volunteer hours if credits are not used by the student. 

*Show Tickets: 50% off tix, so $5 of volunteer credit = 1 ticket. Must be pre-approved by Ben Broedel, Kim Scarfe, or Michelle Faulkner-Forson
**House Workshops: Inquire about workshop credit prior to signing up for a workshop. Volunteer credit only covers certain BIG sponsored workshops.
