2014 May Term Student Senate Senator Application

May term Senators are responsible for attending approximately 3 meetings during May term to discuss Outfly, plans for Senate in the 2014-2015 academic year, and other issues of interest. Times for these meetings will be decided after the elections have been held. There are 8 seats available.

There will be a mandatory elections meeting at 10:00 PM on Tuesday, April 1. This meeting will provide you with all of the information you will need during the campaign. Elections will be take place on Tuesday, April 8 via email.

As a May term Senator, your term carries over through the 2014-2015 academic year. While it is not required that you serve as a Senator during the coming year, most May term Senators take advantage of this option.

    An elections meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 1 at 10:00 PM in the Hub. Attendance is required to verify the candidates running and discuss election rules and procedures. If you cannot make it, please email senate@wartburg.edu with your reason. In order for us to properly advertise the elections, please send a photo of yourself for use on our promotional materials to senate@wartburg.edu prior to the campaign meeting. This may be used in promotional materials including on the Senate website, posters, and bulletin boards. Campaigning may not begin until after the election meeting. Each candidate will have $10 from Senate to spend on printing, and this may be matched by your own contribution of $10. Posters may be emailed to printshop@wartburg.edu. You will need to tell them what size of paper, color, and how many copies you would like printed. Please allow at least 24 hours for printing and preparation. Indicate in your email that you are running for May term Senate. This will allow them to charge the Student Senate account. Lastly, campaigning for May term Senate is a campus-wide event. This means that you may place posters in academic buildings as well as residence halls. Posters must be stamped by the Student Life Office (across from the Den) before you hang them up. Failure to do so will result in the removal of the posters. If you have any questions, feel free to contact senate@wartburg.edu or ask your question during the election meeting.
