2025 UA Marching Band Drumline Audition Application
Greetings!  

Thank you for your interest in the UA Marching Band Drumline.  The audition process for the Drumline is divided into two rounds.  Round 1 is the submission of a YouTube link with required excerpts, while Round 2 is held in person on Sunday, August 10 from 9:00am - 4:30pm at Guzzetta Hall on the University of Akron campus. 

Due to a limited number of instruments, we are only able to accept a certain number of snare, bass, and tenor drum players. All additional members will be placed on cymbals. You are encouraged to audition for multiple instruments!

Please complete and submit this form to indicate your interest in auditioning for the UA Marching Band Drumline.  All audition materials and additional information can be viewed and downloaded by visiting the following google drive link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12aWEeOcajunhk_QRWnri8RQpIsthOLNa?usp=drive_link 

Round 1 of Drumline auditions will be submitted via YouTube Link to Dr. Michelle Bell (mbell2@uakron.edu) 
 - YouTube links are due on or before Friday, July 25th  by 11:59 pm.
-  Please submit 1 video for each drumline instrument you are auditioning for.   
**To submit your videos, please upload your video(s) as unlisted and provide a link via word document and submit via email to Dr. Michelle Bell (mbell2@uakron.edu), The University of Akron Assistant Director of Bands | Director of Athletic Bands.

Requirements for Round 1 Drumline Auditions are as follows: 

A – Brief Introduction (speak clearly!) – Name, Instrument(s) for which you are auditioning,

High School attended, or # of Years in the UAMB.

B – Rudiments (slow – fast – slow) (All are required):

Single Stroke Roll, Double Stroke Roll, Flam Taps, Flam-Paradiddles, and Flam Accents

C –  Audition Excerpt – Accessed via Google Drive, link above.

D – The University of Akron Cadence – Beginning to Letter E, found in Drum Line Manual

Round 2 of Drumline auditions will be held on the University of Akron campus. Those selected for round two will meet at Guzzetta Hall (home of the UA School of Music) on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 9:00am - 3:00pm.
